Artist Statement

I work in the quarry of human subsistence and have the heart of a poet. Joseph Campbells „Hero’s Journey“ became leitmotif of my creations, which I tell in letters of wood, stone, bronze and color. I work figuratively and I speak body-language, because the naked human body provides spontaneous access to the embodied soul condition or mythological content, the „public dream“, across all boundaries and times. I prefer to use traditional materials such as stone, wood, plaster, wax, clay, bronze etc. in order to draw attention to the innovation of statement – not the material – and for connecting past and future of humankind. I intentionally build bridges between the inner world of dreams and the outer world of reality by creating staged scenes of art that interact with all senses of the audience: acoustics, light, temperature, smell, body-sense, color, all melts into one holistic piece of art – Gesamtkunstwerk – with the ability changing consciousness. Continuous, fluctuating exchange between everyday awareness and awareness of dream or inner vision is a precondition for health, as an individual as well as society (Arno Gruen). In my paintings I preferably observe and paint the Beyond, that world still unreachable for the mechanical eye of a camera.
